The Flower Pot Project

Estasia Kerrigan

The reason the Flower Pot Project was created.

The Flower Pot Project

I have a good friend in Washington and her daughter came up with an amazing idea to help a friend.

Mia is  13 years old, and had a friend diagnosed with leukemia.

Mia decided to create unique flower pots out of everyday household containers and sell them to raise proceeds. All the proceeds from the sale of these containers will go to the family and the Pediatric Cancer unit at Children's hospital in Seattle.

Such great initiative and wonderful idea from someone so young with a huge heart.

People can donate flowers, potting soil, household containers (baby jars, canning jars, coffee cans), craft supplies, etc. .

Growing up I lost a best friend who was 11 years old. Kelly battled brain cancer for awhile and had a lot of support from friends and family before she  passed.  I know where Mia is coming from... I wish I had of had this idea back then to show love and support.

We spend so much time and effort in this life on petty things that seem really big at the time. It would be great to have all of you support this fun and important cause.
We can show Mia and her friend that we too care and that sometimes an idea can spark amazing generosity in people.

Click this link to go to the Flower Pot Project Facebook site.

You can get more info there. Please email me for information on mailing items to Mia.

Earth Day 2o12 is just two days away. I can't think of anything better we could do than to show our support for life, environment, and love. Grab some containers, get the address, and make a donation to The Flower Pot Project.

Bell Flowers and Delphinium are great perennial choices for this area of Washington.

UPDATE:

I wanted to update this blog with photos of what Mia has been working on. Thanks to any and all who have started to send stuff to Mia and her cause.

Every little bit helps. Mia you are very talented and a special person, your friend is very lucky.

Please write me to find out how you can donate to Mia and the fight agains Leukemia!
